System Restore won't fix the screen Bren, and it has been known to actually cause problems rather than fix them.

Val, is this a CRT (big and chunky like an old TV) or a modern TFT (flat) monitor. Can you post a photo showing the problem, plus some of the area surrounding the monitor.

        thanks Bren
Dave its a new Dell which I only used for about a month as I prefer my Laptop but decided it was being wasted so have updated it and was going to use it ,I dont remember it being like that when I last used it , it has a wide flat screen and the shadow starts at the bottom and goes up the screen then starts again.
Not good with taking screen shots .

When my screen went wavy (old puter) it was because I needed updated drivers?

1 Adjust monitor frequency under [Control Panel][Monitor]. 2 Try another monitor. 3 Make sure video lead has suppressors (the cores that look like a snake swallowed a tin of beans). 4 Make sure the equipment isnt near other electrical things like motors, fridges magnets etc. flourescent lamps especially can interfere optically as well as electrically.

You're thinking of the old chunky CRT monitors. Flat-panels are not affected by that.

Val, I didn't mean take a screenshot, I ment take a photo with your camera.

Is there any way you can test the monitor on a different PC Val ?? maybe try plugging it into your laptop ?? that way you should be able to either isolate the monitor or the pc as the cause of the issue..

If the monitor still has the shadow on another PC then there is no point changing settings on the present PC......

Val, if its not even a year old, you are covered by their guarantee anyway, so give them a ring.
