Browser windows

Hope someone can help me:(
The last few days when I click on a link a new window opens with my home page, and I cannot get the new link - eg in Ancestry when I click to view an image a new window opens and when I click on the link again it does not work at all.
I use both Firefox and IE and it is happening in both.
I have scanned for spyware, malaware and viruses all come up clean.

Any ideas

It does sound like you have some sort of malware, but strange it happens in Firefox as well as IE. Has your home page been changed? (in IE check Tools/Internet Options/General tab).

Coincidentally (or not) there is a new topic submitted today on Bleepingcomputer.com with a similar-sounding problem, but as yet there is no reply. There are also other references to a "Google Redirect" virus, which may or may not be what you have. I suggest you search on Bleepingcomputer or another techie forum for possible solutions.

Others may have more detailed knowledge than me...

More puzzling is that I downloaded Opera and it does exactly the same thing :-((
