  • Trying to find information on family greengrocers

    Hi All,
Looking at FMP 1911 Census I have my family at 24 Medland street.
Apparently they had a greengrocers there.
    1901 there as greengrocers again.
    1891 at number 26.
Is there anywayway of finding out anymore information about this ?
    Kind regards......John
One thing I dont get is when I search for Medland street in 1901 it only shows number 24 ?

You could try to find them in a local directory... try this site http://www.historicaldirectories.org/hd/

What other information do you want? You can find out about how long they were there from street directories. The relevant records office and/or local history centre may have information about whether and how much and when they paid rent and rates etc. They might even have photos.

I have found them as a Greencrocer on the 1911 Street directory.
        in 1901 & 1911 they are listed as Greengrocer's.
When I went to the local history library all they had to show me was the 1911 Street directory.
I cant seem to find them on http://www.historicaldirectories.org/hd/.
        Regards......John

              John

in 1891 they were at the same address, but he was a tank maker(same as on his marriage cert) whatever that is, and on the 1901 it said greengrocer, own account in house, so maybe he didnt have a shop as such.
