Perhaps they will extend the offer to the separate 1911 Census site. That would spread the load.

cunning plan sounds ominous to me ??? maybe they plan to keep the subscribers out?

Perhaps the cunning plan is to stagger access around the world.
I.E.
If the match is played at 6 PM then instead of people in different time zones accessing all at the same time (that is correcting the time according to time zone) they access at 6 PM local time.
That would mean Australia accessed about 10 hours before the UK and the USA about 10 hours after the UK.
This would stagger the load on the servers.
They could also allow the subscribers to access the standard server and the non-subscribers could access via load sharing slave servers.

Guy, that would be the better option I would have thought - but can they actually divide the service like that without compromising the other areas?

I would much prefer NOT having to get up at 4am.....lol
