  • Disappearing John!!!!

    Hi folks
    A bit of a poser.

John Sloman b Eggesford, Devon c1811 is widowed in 1888 and goes walkabout until appearing in St Thomas, Exeter Workhouse in 1901 and dies later that year.

He is not in the Workhouse, or his previous address in 1891.

    Where is he hiding???

Any clue will be most welcome.

Have a look at this entry in the workhouse

Its transcribed as John Slaman aged 50 but I think it might be him - the age isn't very clear

If it helps I think the age on that census entry is 80, there is no straight top line which would have been there if it was 50.

I agree, everybody, and I'm kicking myself for missing it and wasting people's time.

        Thank you,
