  • Record for Tenterden Kent

I wonder if anyone has the time to do a look up for me Please.?

I am trying to see what i can get on William Munday
Death registered on 1st QTR 1849
    Tenterden , Kent
    Volume 5 Page 373

I am hoping the informant is a Esther Munday wife?

This will prove i have the right William Munday

    Many thanks

    Peter

The best you are going to hope for at the Records Office is a lookup in the burial records, which wont give you the informant's name.

      Thanks for that Elaine

Perhaps a marriage might be better , but here's where i get stuck as all i know is that my William Munday was married to Esther Hanser no idea of date but these are the parents of on the Birth cert of Daughter Emma in 1849 and he is not shown as deceased on the birth cert .?

Perhaps i should put this on the main board.

Have you found the family in the 1851 census?

Thanks for that - couldn't find them!

So the same family in 1841

              Wm Monday 35
              Ester Monday 30
              William Monday 8
              Sarah Monday 6
              Ester Monday 4
              Lucy Monday 2

              - they all say born in Kent, but on the 1851 census Esther's place of birth is given as Rye Sussex.

I wonder if it might be worth looking at the Sussex OPC - they have done a lot of parish register transcriptions.

Are you sure it is Hanser - name not showing up in any Sussex records I look at. Could it be Hanson?

I think you're going to have to get the death cert, Peter - that's the only way to get the informant's name.

                      Lucy was born in Rye:

                      Births Dec 1838
                      MUNDAY Lucy Rye 7 368

and according to the IGI (submitted entry?) was christened there in 1840.

The baptism isn't showing up on the Sussex OPC site under Rye, though. Can't find the coverage page, but they only seem to go up to about 1816. Can't see a baptism for Esther Hans* either.

Esther's second name has been a subject of debate on a previous thread with a copy of my cert
                        it could be Mansa,Mansen.Hansa,Hansen.
My reasoning is that the first letter M is the same shape as the M in Munday

Although Rye is now in E. Sussex - pre-boundary changes it was in Kent . could explain the kent and sussex conundrum

According to http://woodchurchancestry.org.uk/midkentmarriages , William MONDAY married Hester MANSTER at Biddenden, Kent on 30-Dec-1831.

                                    Cheers,

Looks like Hester got remarried after William died:

From the IGI, this seems to be Hester's baptism (submitted record though, so beware!). Northiam is only about 7 miles from Rye. Father's name Thomas matches that given at 1866 marriage above:

                                        Hester Manser
Christening: 12 APR 1812 Northiam, Sussex, England
                                        Father: Thomas Manser
                                        Mother: Keturah Murcin
Record submitted after 1991 by a member of the LDS Church.
