  • Found another Goulson.....not that it helps again!!!!

    Name: William Roper Goulson
    Gender: Male
    Baptism/Christening Date: 26 May 1814
    Baptism/Christening Place: Eccles, Lancashire, England

    Father's Name: Benjamin Goulson

    Mother's Name: Amy Goulson

Collection: England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975

Just thrown me a bit, the baptism is a late one or something is awry, (mum would have been late 50's by the time, but her maiden name is Roper, other kids were baptised in the 1780's!!!).

Also puts a new light on the Lancs family too, the parents shown above were born, marriaed and died in a small village in Lincs, why they suddenly pop up in Lancs i have no idea. Another son went that way though just prior to 1800

Found on google books yesterday that William Roper Goulson was something to do with Gorton School, the headmaster and mistress are mentioned along with WRG and another name, no idea what it means though as it's a short entry in a Lancs directory.
