  • Chelsea Pensioners help

I have 2 rellies that might be listed on the Chelsea pensioners list on FMP - can anyone advise me what details are given on this site, and would it be possible to access this a libraries as I don't have a full sub to FMP. One is George Attewell b 1848 in Oxford and the other is his cousin William Attewell b 1850.

Additionally, I am trying to see whether the William born in 1850 is the same William who went to the Channel Islands and is mentioned in the article Attewells of Alderney, but am having trouble finding him on censuses

William Frederick Attewell born Dec Q 1850 in Nuneham (Abingdon area)

In 1851 he is here http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?...ll&st=r&ssrc=& Class: HO107; Piece: 1688; Folio: 493; Page: 15, with his family.

    in 1861 http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?...ll&st=r&ssrc=& Class: RG9; Piece: 734; Folio: 61; Page: 7

In 1871 this would appear to be him, as a Hospital Cook in the army http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?...=&pid=11208256 Class: RG10; Piece: 2137; Folio: 98; Page: 3;.

I then lose track of him but have found this entry http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?...st=r&ssrc=&pid Class: RG12; Piece: 4707; Folio 58; Page 4;.

Can anyone help me to find him?

    Thanks

    Linda

I paid £8 for 3 pages from NA for my rellie in 1810, cheaper than joining FMP. but very little information way back then just age, how long he served when he enrolled, and the injury he had when he was discharged, as well as where he was from, and the regiment he was with.

Thanks Edna, I'm also waiting for an estimate from TNA for details of a soldier who fought in the American Wars of Independence - I believe he was captured by the Americans and then repatriated to the British (luckily, or I wouldn't be here!)
