  • Help needed with a mariner 1917 please

    Hello folks,
my D/i/L has come across an autograph book circa 1917 belonging to a great aunt. I have offered to do some research on as many names in the book as I can..but there is a mariner that has got me stumped..can you help or advise me please???

THOMAS BEYTHING ( or could be BLYTHING) He may have been born in BANGOR, Wales.
    HMS BICKERSTAFFE

Note: The Gt aunt lived in Wales & I am assuming that all the folk in the book were also from Wales.

    Thank you in advance,
    Margaret.
Family Names : HALE, GREEN, BROUGH, HARRIS, FARMER, REEVES, MINCHIN, CORNISH, WARD.

Strictly speaking he's a sailor, not a mariner if he was in the Royal Navy.

I have been looking at some of the links on our Royal Navy page, but can't find an HMS BICKERSTAFFE (or similar) anywhere ..

I tried http://www.battleships-cruisers.co.uk/ and http://www.navylist.org/ but there other sites listed.
