  • Can someone help with Historical Directories please

I'm looking to find residents in a particular street in a Directory.

So I've found which Directory/decade I need - and I've read and re-read the ''help' page, but just can't get my head round how to get to to this Street within the directory. 2 or 3 years ago, I seemed to do this with no problem..... where am I going wrong

Short of clicking for about 100 pages I just can't remember what to do.:(

    Thank you

I've always have problems finding specific towns in these. You could try search, otherwise bearing in mind that they're usually alphabetical you could say pick page 400 then 450 and then work backwards or forwards in 10s until you find it

Ah there's the thing Velma - that's what I used to do - which didn't take too long to get to where you wanted...... but I can't figure out now how to do even that :( I'm sure it's changed, because I used to use them quite a bit.

But now I get on to the title page, click over until I get to content - pick which district or 'Resident'/Commerical part of the town, say, and then??? I can't figure out how to get the page Nos. up.

I don't know if its changed, but when the first page comes up, click on "Browse directory" on the top right side and the next screen brings up the option to choose a page number, and the right hand side has "search directory"

I now realise why it's so difficult!

I can't see the page numbers because they're hidden under the blue boxes running down the lefthand edge - and I don't know how to get rid of them!

I can keep clicking Next Image, to get the district I want and then view the page(s) in pdf, which then don't have those blue boxes.... but it's Catch 22 because I can't see what page I want because of them!

Can anybody help with moving them out of the way please

I've found your man with regards to the info in the pm's in the Berkshire Historical directory for 1914 and 1914 living/working from home which is 403 Oxford Rd Reading Berkshire. 1915 is the last directory on the site that I can check for you.

I'm very grateful and appreciate your help.
