i have just updated my FTM to the 2008 version and am not getting on with it is there any way i can delete the old hints but still have new ones on i have found the box that clicks them off completely but do not want to stop the new ones showingf up

The 2008 FTM (2010 upgrade) is a nightmare. Be very sure you want to be bothered with it. It doesn't upload from previous versions completely eg photos don't transfer. Keep your old version!!

Sorry to disagree. Haven't had a problem transferring files from 2006 to 2008/2010, including photos.
