  • MS Office via Open Office

I have MS Office 2007 on my present PC but plan to buy another PC or Mac soon. I am thinking of using Open Office on my new machine and wonder if Open Office will reconize MS Office 2007. (Some say Open Office is MS Office 2003),

    Welcome your comments.

I googled a bit and it seems that Open Office 3 will recognize 2007 files, but you can't save them in that format.

Caroline is correct. I use Open Office and you can read the MS2007 files (docx, pptx etc) with no trouble. If you want to send a document to someone who uses MS Office you can save it in Word/Excel/... format (doc/xls/...) and they will be able to open it even if they have MS 2007.

If you want to know any more about Open Office feel free to reply.
