Francis McCusker was born about 1860 in Killererin, Galway, Ireland.
I found him in the army records in find my past and, from them, it looks as if he should be in Alderney, but the only one I can find with a surname anything like his is Francis Mc Clusken in Sunderland! (RG number: RG11 Piece: 5001 Folio: 24 Page: 41). Also, although I went backwards and forwards from the image with his name, I could not see the regiment.
His surname does vary, in his marriage record in 1885 it is Mclusker though he signed it McCusker. Not easy for the English to understand the Irish accent sometimes, I expect. I have found him and his wife from 1891 to 1911.
