John H Knights wife Frieda M born New York any ideas on finding her maiden name ?????

  • #2
I guess it depends if they were married in New York or UK ? I don't have worldwide access so I don't know what US resources are available.

According to the census he arrived in the States in 1883, but wasn't born till 1888? Or am I misreading it?

Was looking at a later census to see if there were any other clues -
It looks as if in the 1930 census Freida may have become Clara! The information re places of birth, date of immigration etc roughly seem to match the 1920 census. Not sure if it's the same wife, or a second one.

Not what you asked for but all I can find!

Sometimes childrens' baptism records have the mother's maiden name.

On going through the 1910 census, the following Frieda are born in New York with parents born in Switzerland:

              http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/D...=&pid=18879504

              and

              http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?...=&pid=19594635

              and

              http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?...&pid=107674872

who were born between 1892 and 1894.

There was also a Frieda Lehman but she was living in Arkansas at the time of the census.

              Hope this helps
