  • What happend to Howard Artiss

    Hi All

In the 1911 census I have Howard and Jessie Mary Artiss with their two young sons Norman and Frank Dunlop in Hampton Court Rd Harborne, Birmingham. I can find no record of Howard, Jessie after this date.
Norman marries in Portland USA in 1912 and Frank Dunlop Artiss dies in Canada in 1974.
In Ancestry there are 4 entries for Howard Artiss ,3 Atlantic port passenger lists and 1 Canadian passenger lists but I only have a .co.uk subscription.

The entry for Howard Artiss shows he arrived in Canada on 17 Feb 1912.

Have you tried the Ellis Island site for the USA? http://www.ellisislandrecords.org/se...assSearch.asp?

or the Canadian Library & Archives incoming passenger manifests online? http://www.collectionscanada.ca/arch...r/index-e.html

ARTISS is an uncommon name - there are only three coming up without any tweaking on the Ellis Island site, all in 1895:
        Amy, Edith & Eliz.

Howard was quick - he only left Liverpool (as "H") on 8 Feb 1912! The family left Southampton on 10 Dec 1912.
