  • how can i save my family tree to disc to give to other family members

    Hi all.

Maybe a stupid question. I am using Family Tree Maker 2009 and have tried saving to cd.
Each time I do it, it says it is a back up file. Is this the correct format to give to other family members
so that they can follow up on what I have done. If not can somebody tell me how to save it.
I understand if I save in ged.com format, I lose all picture content, is this correct.
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Glenda

Easiest way is to copy the .ftm file to CD

They will need a copy of FTM to open it.

Yes, a GED format will lose all the images, as GED is a text file only

      Thanks Trev.

      That seems to have worked.
Just practising at the moment, but now I know how to do it.
      Pics copied as well.
