I would say bde could be brigade, sorry can`t help with the ra ra bit, but could it be a place, where was he stationed ?Sylvia

It could be Brigade or Bombadier, and most probably is Royal Artillery. A Bombadier is the rank a soldier is when he first joins the RA.Daphne

Depot usually means a base of some kind - where you can store ("deposit") things.

there are various Brigade Depots...e.g 4th Brigade Depot Richmond, 33 Brigade Depot....
