    peter ford died 20 aug 1905, leeds. occupation given as: army pensioner, depot bde ra. what does this mean?

    I would say bde could be brigade, sorry can`t help with the ra ra bit, but could it be a place, where was he stationed ?

      Only guessing, but "ra" could be Royal Artillery?

        It could be Brigade or Bombadier, and most probably is Royal Artillery. A Bombadier is the rank a soldier is when he first joins the RA.

          he was in the royal artillery. so depot brigade royal artillery? im so dense. what does depot mean? and brigade would be identifying his unit?

            Depot usually means a base of some kind - where you can store ("deposit") things.

              I think Depot is the name of this Brigade (regiment)
              On the web page are other Royal Artillery regiments e.g 8th Brigade

                  Hi - perhaps he was stationed in Australia at some stage?..
                  there are various Brigade Depots...e.g 4th Brigade Depot Richmond, 33 Brigade Depot....
