  • Herodias Smart, born 1829 Turwaston

I am trying to find any information I can about Herodias Smart, who was born in 1829 in Turwaston. She married Philip Taylor and had 9 children. Her husband was Philip Taylor who was a Blacksmith. In 1861 he was living in Backway in the parish of St. Peter, Northamptonshire. Herodias died aged 39 in 1868. Philip Taylor moved to Farthinghoe by 1971 as a Blacksmith. Any information about Herodias' parents and or siblings will be very much appreciated

I typed the town name incorrectly. It should read Turweston

There is a Roda (shortened from Herodias maybe?) age 12 in Turweston on 1841 census with Thomas age 15. Unfortunately they're not with their parents. Looks like they are living with Thomas & Sarah Trentam (aged 80 & 75).

If you get a copy of her 1846 marriage cert, that should give you her father's name & occupation? The District is "Brackley", so I'd guess she was married in Turweston (sadly not on the IGI!).

Might be worth seeing if anyone's going to the Bucks Archives in Aylesbury in the near future? They may be able to get you a copy of the Parish Register entry from there.

Turweston is very small. This TNA item may have some connection for you?

There are two separate-looking trees on Ancestry: one private, one public. They might be worth following up?

                The private one describes her:
                Herodias/Sarah/Roda Smart
                Birth: 1829 - Buckinghamshire

                The public one:
                Herodias Smart
                Birth: Abt 1828 - Buckinghamshire
                Death: Abt 1868
                Spouse: Peter Taylor

You should be able to find her in 1851 and 1861, as well as her death record.
