Unfortunately it's too small to read, however if you upload to Photobucket and then add the image link to a post then you should have a big enough image for us to read the text.

If you don't know how to use Photobucket, here's a useful guide http://www.familytreeforum.com/refer...otobucket.html

All I can manage to read is the name of the hotel - The Raven Hotel, Droitwich.

Blimey....I thought it was upside down at one point!!

I think last word of 2nd line could be "Late"

there are a couple of words that look like "you"

Yup, Welsh, my hubby agrees. The first word is "Yr" ("the") and the letter features twice the word "ym" which means "in" in English. For the rest, we are not Welsh-speakers I'm afraid and we cannot read it. :(

The site RootsChat have a section on there where you can get Welsh translated. It is in the Wales General section.

Google's translation facility shows Welsh as one of the options

And it might be quite accurate. I believe Welsh has Latin roots (modern Welsh was partially "invented").

Problem is, can anyone actually read what the guy/woman has written. When one does not speak a language it's difficult to guess at such handwriting... ;)

The word for window and one of the words for church are something like fenestr (c.f. fenestra) and eglwys (c.f whatever the classical word is that generates "ecclesiastical" and the like - or église, in French).

Interesting... "heli" must be "salt". You get place-names like Halle in salt-mine areas. And there are other words/place-names with similar prefixes.
