Can anyone read this small piece of shorthand

Well actually this really small piece of shorthand!

I'm told my great grandfather Clem Harrison taught shorthard.

This is written on the back of a tiny photo 3cm by 4cm




Any ideas?

the three at the bottom could be

in the pages of the ....

It's very difficult to read shorthand if it's not written on lined paper as the positioning of the strokes, e.g. above/on/below the line, indicate different sounds.

It's also very difficult to read someone else's shorthand because after a while you tend to create your own style for different words - at least I did. I'll have a ponder on the top bit.

Well only my interpretation of it. Someone with more recent knowledge of shorthand might come up with something different! As I said, it's a long time since I did shorthand.

Hi Jay - Tarjeta Postal is Spanish for postcard......does Spain provide a clue for you? Mind you, the other word looks like Postkast?? .....and that comes up as Estonian....
My shorthand isn't great....I've asked a pal to have a look...although I think Elaine is close to it..

I think the other word is Postkarte, which is German for postcard. It probably says postcard in several different languages across the top of the card.

Clem had a sister that was supposed to of worked for a family in Spain for a time, tho if it's also written on German than who knows.

I still (sadly!) use shorthand and agree with Elaine's transcription...not that it helps much.
