Hi Pat - I just found this drawing "a female and a male convict in Van Diemen’s Land (now Tasmania). There were no uniforms at this time and the convicts wore what they arrived in. It is a rare image as only four representations of convict women made at the time of transportation can be found in national collections"
Most convicts arriving in Australia came before photography was anything but experimental - some who later reoffended might have had their photo taken. There are some on the State Records of NSW website
