  • If 2 sisters have same BMD ref, could they be twins?

Both birth reg 12/1851 with same Vol and page number and district.

I know they are sisters from census. Could they be twins?

If they are the same age on the census, there's a strong presumption of twins. Get saving up your £14 and/or looking for a baptism record.

Thanks Uncle J. It is a friend's tree and I don't need to know this to prove links to prev generations etc so I don't think he will fork out.

He will have to find a friend who can go to Records Office to know if that is true.

I'd have thought that any other scenario was extremely improbable.

You have sisters, and they are registered simultaneously.

Thanks Christine - they are always the same birth year (even tho it is a year out ) on census records.

You'd expect them to show as b abt 1852 on the censuses?

If their birthday was December they would appear a year younger as the census was taken in spring.
