Headphones loss of my voice.

I use skype for calling Australia. My headphones were on the blink so I treated my self to a new pair and then phoned Australia. I got through but they couldn't hear me. I recei ved a message saying that maybe my microphone was on mute. How do I get the microphone back. i haven't changed anything since I used the old ones, just plugged the new ones in.

Any help very gratefully received.

is there a little dial on it to turn the sound up or down ???

select the sound service on skype to check out your voice ......also check your sound device is selected tools / options /audio settings.
