    HI
I have found my nan and grandad going out to canada in 1927 on the regina. My aunt was born over there. They came back a few years later couple of questions
    • Can find no record of return..they did not have much money so presume they came back by boat but nothing showing - would this have been recorded
    • can i find aunts birth record anywhere if in canada is there any online records
    • trying to tace my grandads family so trying to gather as much info as possible Have his mothers surname Major however his name was sheehan! What should I be looking for

    Many thanks

Hi, I can't help with the Canadian queries but how do you know that your Grandads mothers name was Major? I would assume that either she was married to a Sheehan then re-married a Major after he was born or Sheehan was her maiden name and your Grandad was born out of wedlock and then she married a Major. If you know when and where he was born then you can search the index and send off for his birth cert. and that should tell you either way. There might be something easier but I am fairly new to this and that is what I would do. Hope this is of some help.

If you know where in canada your aunt was born then try and google canadian birth records. Thats the only thing I can suggest!

Have you been looking at the incoming passenger lists on the Find My Past website??

I really don't know how complete these are though... ??

I thought FMP only had outbound passenger lists?

Ancestry have incoming passenger lists 1878-1960 or there abouts.

Was there only one child at that time? Could Aunty Joan have been recorded as a boy?
For Canadian records there are a number of sites - any idea where they went to in Canada? - then you can pinpoint more specific archives -
