  • Google - do you find this invasive?

I am finding that Google is taking my PC over as they are always pushing extra's. First a CHAT Icon appeared in my list of names on the left hand side of my mail box and today I now have BUZ.

I do not appear to be able to remove these . I have no wish to be involved with them.

I always had Google co uk as my Home Page but it has changed to .com While I have tried to change it in Tools/Options it will not go away. At one time we used to have the option to 'Make this my Home Page' but that option seems to have disappeared.

A friend at work told me that he had abandoned Google for this sort of thing and now uses SCROOGLE have you any expierience of this?

Most important of all is that from today I have found it impossible to either stay on this site or others as My Google Home Page just over rides them. Any ideas why please.

    Hi Margaret,
You can control what appears in the menu to the left of the mailbox by clicking on Settings at the top right of the Gmail window, then clicking on the Labels tab. Then click on show or hide to add or remove labels from the menu to the left.

I found a discussion on the google.co.uk support forum about the homepage reverting back to google.com even after changing the URL using Tools > Internet Options. Maybe you'll find something of use here: http://www.google.co.uk/support/foru...7943d9ce&hl=en

I think google can be as invasive, like any other search engine or browsers, if you have addons or extensions then fles get added.
how much you allow will depend on your settings.

A lot of these browsers and search engines retain various info ; but these you can remove .

Please note that images I restore are only temporarily kept on photobucket

Please remember that this is a Google product on their website, which has nothing to do with your PC. Also, as it is their product, they have the right to add whatever features they wish.

          Sarah,

I have done as you suggested so hope it works. I find when one has too many Icons on the screen it is so easy to click on the wrong one.
