  • Grrr! cert has arrived and not helped :-(

further to my post last week i now have the marriage certificate for my GG Grandparents. I had hoped finding the name of my GG grandmothers father would help me track her on the 1871/1881 census, but it hasn't.

Missing on one census maybe...but two? anyone have any ideas why, or where else i could look to try and find them?

All census returns after her marriage state Kate was born Sydenham, Kent, but i have not been able to trace her birth, and her age varies, giving her dob from 1864 - 1866.

          Hi everyone
think I have found them although very confusing to say the least - If I put my findings so far someone else may have some clues -

birth - Shrimplin Kate Roselie Hackney in 1864 (read on to why I have got her birth as Shrimplin)

frederick henry finch married hariett puxty jan 17th 1853 st george the martyr southwark he was a carpenter
          1861
look for frederick h finch brn about 1831 Margareffing, Sussex
they are in the right area (sydenham)

          in 1871 look for
frederic henry firch brn 1825 living lewisham in 1871
This is where the mystery is of Shrimplin!!
I think she was adopted maybe??

In 1881 Harriett the mother is widowed but living with her is a Thomas Wright (a witness on Kates mc)
