Hiya Peter....this is only for future reference....I live in Garston , Liverpool and there is a family of Crothers here in Garston...if by chance they pop up in any future research PM me and I`ll put you in touch with them...not forgetting that Garston is only a ferry ride away from Belfast as Liverpool- Belfast ferry was very busy around 1900......allan
ADDED...a member named Nikki has Gertrude Crothers in her tree born 1940 on Genesreunited.....she also has
    a female J*** b 1939
    a male S***** b 1939
are these possibly who you are looking for ?...

PRONI has some directories online, but unfortunately not for the period you're looking for: http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/search...irectories.htm
Records for that period probably are held by PRONI though, just not (yet?) available online: http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/resear...nd_indexes.htm

Yes Nikkii is a relative of mine she married my mothers, brothers son , lol if you follow that.

        Getrude was her Husbands, Mother,.

I know that she has them on her tree , but i wish to confirm all this for myself as you know some things can be in error. Like i have a different death year for a start.

There are some more Belfast directories here: http://www.lennonwylie.co.uk/Belfast...irectories.htm
The ones viewable online don't cover the period you're looking for, but there is someone offering lookups for a 1935 and 1941 directory, among others.

            Even more listed here: http://www.belfastforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=281.0

Sadly Belfast is not great for records.

We go to Dublin for BMD etc. Also the records in Bishop Street (The National Archives) hold some census on microfiche.
              Not sure which ones.

You would not be able to see any census for 1938 the latest one available is 1911 - they only come out after 100 years so the next is 1921 in 2021 if it is ever published. I believe there is some doubt.

I have used the site mention above Belfast Forum and people on there have been very helpful, even doing a cemetary look up for me, so it's worth a try joining that and asking for help there.
