  • Does anyone know what a Strand Girl was?

    Hi

In the 1891 census Elizabeth Jane Morfee (mis-transcribed as Merfee) aged 20 was a Strand Girl. Does anyone know what this is? I have Googled, but keep coming up with dubious websites :o

Her father is called Zebulon Morfee, he was a Carpenter & her mother Elizabeth was a Brush Drawer.

    Class: RG12; Piece: 231; Folio 13; Page 15

    thanks Sandra

It sounds like something to do with weaving or something similar still looking though.

Humm, could be, but I'm not convinced that she was a showgirl or anything.

I was wondering if it was to do with helping her mother make brushes, I've been reading this website about Brush Drawers, but it doesn't mention Strand Girls

That would make sense Sandra if she had something to do with it because her parents are in the business.

"Errand" sounds more respectable than "Errant"!
