Cannot get rid of AVG free

I have uploaded Avira and want to get rid of AVG as I'm fed up with them telling me all the time that my "shieild" is not working and wanting me to update all the time.

Now I cannot uninstall it!
This is the error message I am getting:

Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Warning: Preparation to unload of the service avg9wd failed.
HRESULT 0x80004005
Error: Action failed for file avgwdsvc.exe: stopping service....
The requested control is not valid for this service.

Did you go to the Control panel dont know a lot about this but I would go to the panel then to Remove and scroll untill you find AVg click on then click on remove hope this helps.

I know that to completely remove some antivirus software you have to download a removal tool.

I googled avg removal and found this.

Hi Katarzyna

The best way of uninstalling AVG is to reinstall the version you have during the installation you will be given the choice of uninstalling the product, this should completely remove the software.

Be sure you have avira installed before you do this so you remain protected.

Thanks. I have Avira installed and downloaded avg remover. All is OK now.
I hate messing about with these things!!
