  • How common is the surname Buble?

The reason why I ask is that some new information has come to light on my husband's family. An ancestor of his was a Henry Buble who married an Ann Vevy but I don't know where or when. The only Henry Buble I have been to find is in the American records, but can't read them. What I am wondering is whether there is any connection to Michael Buble the singer.

It woiuld be interesting to know if there is a connection, nothing more, as my take on this is how we are related is an accident of birth; we all have to be prepared to find murderers or extreme poverty, but it has no bearing on what we do.

Obviously not a very common name in the UK as when you search on the 1841-1901 census there are only 16 entries in total!

Can't seem to find anything to indicate its origin.

It is possible that Henry and Mary (not Ann) married in Lithuania. Their daughter Jane Buble married Jacob Woolf in the East London Synagogue on 26th December1898 but emigrated to South Africa. Have found no detail on Henry Buble in London at all, is it possible that I have right man in America, or did the parents emigrate to South Africa with Jane too?

Hi - just read this on a Michael Buble site - "of Italian descent. He has dual Italian-Canadian citizenship. He has stated that his last name is actually from his Italian ancestry. Part of his family is from Treviso (in northern Italy), and the other part of his family is from Villa Santa Lucia, Italy. His grandfather Demetrio "Mitch" Santaga comes from the village of Preganziol, Italy"

I just went to a Rome phone book and there is one Buble..nothing in Milan..nothing in Treviso...nothing in Venice...
Maybe they've all gone ex directory!!

Hi - You can apply for a copy of the Hebrew Marriage Authorisation..that will tell you the Hebrew names of both fathers and the bride and groom, the names of the groom's unmarried brothers, if you're lucky, the place of origin, addresses etc etc It should also tell you if Jane's father was not alive.. If you'd like to do that, send me a pm and I'll give you the full info of where to apply....
My ggp's married in the ELS in June 1898 as well....do you have the names of the witnesses from the marriage cert? Does the cert mention deceased for Jacob's father?

On FreeBMD the surname is showing as;-
          Marriages Dec 1898
Boobeli Jane Mile End 1c 956

Could it be that Vevy was meant to be Levy??

I have come by this information via notebooks albeit it incomplete. Haven't got the faintest idea who would have the original marriage licence. Will PM you later, but would not want to cause upset in my husband's family

So Michael Buble's name is his stage name, not the name he was born with.

The problem is, the name is obviously foreign and therefore absolutely certainly has been mistranscribed at some point or other and it is going to be difficult to work out what it was originally and what it is now!

The spelling on here is a new one to me. The spellings in the family book were different again. Someone has offered to help me and I'll follow what I know up as far as I can and report back if I turn up anything worthy of discussion. A lot of names were Angliscised, as names given were what the person taking notes down heard, a problem when the people came in from other countries and spoke little or no English.

Hi - I just saw this surname mentioned in another forum which specialises in Jewish family research - BOUBLIL/BUBLIL...thought you might want to add it to the notebook info that you have....
