  • At Sea Birth place

I have a relie where it states in the 1911 census born 'At Sea' Nationality British.

Where would i start looking , logically the ship would have been British.?

I have no idea how to go about this if the 'At Sea' is correct or could the census filler have not known so put at Sea .?

A birth at sea should be registered at the next port the ship calls at. So it could be in the normal BMD index if the ship docked in England or Wales or on ScotlandsPeople if it docked in Scotland. Otherwise it should be in the Overseas Registers for which the indexes are on familyrelatives.com (free access) or Findymypast.
