I gather from Wikipedia that Paint Shop Pro 8 is an older release from 2003, designed to run under Windows NT / 98 / 2000 / Me / XP / 95, so I wouldn't expect it to run under Vista.
However, if there are any updates or patches available, you should be able to download them from the manufacturer's website: www.corel.com
I don't know about Vista, but I just installed PSP 8 on my new computer which has Windows 7 (64-bit) and so far it seems to be working fine. The CD I had was for version 8.0, so I also downloaded and installed the version 8.1 update/patch before running the program (I think the version numbers may be slightly different between N. America and Europe).
I'd actually upgraded to PSP X a few years ago (not much of an upgrade, IMO), but couldn't find that CD (we moved house last year and still have lots of unpacked boxes). Fortunately, PSP 8 is able to do everything I need.

Thank you all for your replies. Now the questions start.
I have installed Paint Shop Pro 8 but when I first put the disk in
I got this messageC\;\Windows\System 32\Macromed\Flash\Flash 06007900.dcx
I clicked on the Red Cross that came up and the message dissapeared and the programme installed ok.
I have not been able to find the update does anyone have this link please?
Secondly when I tried via the Help on PSP8 'Update' again I got a message 'No Browser Found' so do I download a patch before installation.
I want to be sure that I always save my images to JPEG/jpg compliant how do I do this. Meanwhile I am going to uninstall the programme and try again in the morning.
