  • A Challenge for 2010

New members may not have come across these threads in the Birthdays and Anniversaries Forum, or "older" members may have forgotten all about them.

In December 2007, Simon suggested that we see if between us, we could add a birth, baptism or marriage date of our direct ancestors for each day of December - a sort of Advent Calendar. This was so successful, that it was continued right through 2008 (including February 29th!!) to give a complete year. It was continued through 2009, adding dates of death or burial, but less successfully.

Since then, we have many, many new members and the original contributors will have found new information and extended their trees, so we are going to start afresh - if you added to the threads before, it doesn't matter, please add them again. The challenge is to see if we can find at least one entry for every day of 2010.

It should be the birth/baptism, marriage, death/burial dates of direct ancestors only. If you are able to fill in any background or add photographs of the people or places involved that would be great. As not every member has uploaded a GEDCOM to the site, who knows what connections you may find!!

Details of parents or living people are not entered, as theThe Ancestral Anniversaries Calendar will be found by search engines.

The pages for the whole year are now finished and we almost have a complete set of at least one event for every day of the year!!

However, we do have gaps for:

    February 13

    August 15

    October 19 and 30

    December
    13, 23 and 31

It's never to late to add your own events, you can click on the relevant page in The Ancestral Anniversaries Calendar, post the details, and somebody will add them for you.

An enormous thank must go to everyone who contributed, but especially to Lin Fisher and Jill on the A272 who made countless contributions throughout the year.

    Thank you all.
