Does anyone know if worldwide ancestry subscription should give access to south african records? I thought it should but no south african records come up when I put in the name. Maybe there are none available.Does anyone know?

    Thanks Liz

I don't know much about South African records ..... here is my brief experience ...

A member of our one-name society has South African ancestors - only back th his grandfather, who was born there in about 1901 and came to England when he was 9. He has his great grandfather's name from the marriage certificate (grandfather's) but that's all. One of our researchers belongs to the Society of Genealogists but a visit there did little to help. It seems that South African BMD records were not kept as we know them until after the beginning of the 20C!!
