  • what do you make of this from 1911?

    transcription says living at
4 INVICTA COTTAGES FARLEIGH HILL TOVIL

    FREED FLorrie b 1899
    FREED Frederick b 1865
    FREED Milby b1884

I was unsure about the relationship but now that I have had a look it says that MILLY is Fredericks wife of 7 years. Only child is Florrie. CAnt find a marriage for this one and Florrie would have been born out of wedlock with Milly only aged 15.

If you trace the 1901 entry back to the 1881 census, he seems to be recorded as being born in 1862, which fits in better with the 1911 census.

This is the only birth that seems possible, but its not the right year
          Florence Maud M Freed
          1897 Jul-Aug-Sep District: Greenwich 1d Page: 1168

Of course Florrie could be Milly's illegitimate daughter. Or indeed Frederick's illegitimate daughter by another woman, not necessarily one who was married to him.

I think that is a different family - possibly this one in 1901
              - Ancestry.co.uk

and then recorded in 1911 census as Florence b 1898 living in Woolwich, with Florence (? mother) born 1876 and David (? brother) born 1899.

probably the only way to unravel it is to order the birth certifacat for Florrie. Not a direct line this one but a 2nd cousin line.:xmas_confused:

Can you find the birth registration, Gloryer.
I'm not sure she was born as a Freed.

And of course we don't know if she was registered with first name as Millie, Milly, Amelia, Millicent or just plain "female" either!
