      how do you do it?

I tried allsorts yesterday and still couldnt get it!!

can you do that type of narrowing down on the 'new search?'

I find thats much easier to use, as my eyesight isnt very good :(

Using the old search all I put in was
        First name: Henry
        Birth year: 1795 =/- 5 years
        Birth county: Leic*

It gave 116 returns - scrolled through to the Rs and found Henry Rome!

Using the same criteria on the New Search, apart from birth county as Leicestershire, rather than Leic*, it gives 163 returns .. and Henry Rome is still there.

The secret is put in as little as you possibly can.

Yes - in this case I just searched the 1851 census.

i put in exactly what you said and got 30,000 + hits.. I have found him and corrected it as well.

still dont get the amount of hits you do though, maybe cos I use WW but did specify england only?

Oh and have found Marys death too.. in 1857 @ Milk Square.. :(

I always tick the box that says Exact matches only (on old search).
On new search it is Match all terms exactly.

I never search with that box unticked!
