  • Any ideas folks?

I am having a few problems with Sarah Robertson b. 1821 @ Melton Mowbray.

she marries in 1850 @ Melton Mowbray, to John Wenden Jaques b. abt. 1818 Ardleigh, Essex.

I have her on the 1851 census in Somerby, Leicestershire

    1851 Census, Class: HO107; Piece: 2091; Folio: 280; Page: 21; GSU roll: 87719.

as a dressmaker, (John was a Gamekeeper.)

on the 1861 census John is a Widow,
    1861 Census, Class: RG9; Piece: 1096; Folio: 31; Page: 13; GSU roll: 542752.

    and subsequently remarries in 1863.

what I cant find is Sarahs death..

does anyone have any suggestions please how to go about this I have tried looking in the death index but NOTHING is matching up, and I have no idea where she might have died.

    thanks for looking

      Hello Chrissie,

thats just the trouble, I dont know for sure that they were still in Leics...

I guess it'll have to wait until I can get to Leics RO to see if I can find a death/burial either at saffron lane or welford road cemeteries.

was kinda hoping that someone might have some sort of solution

There is one in July-Sept 1854 that says unreadable but it looks very much like Caunton to me - would that be any help?

        Where is he in 1861?

It's impossible to know obviously but if it's important I would be inclined to send for the Blaby one if the informant is John. I imagine he only went back to his parents after she died.

You could try e-mailing them and explaining your problem. The local Register Offices I have had dealings with can be REALLY helpful.
