  • Is anyone ABEL to help with 1871 census?

Please can anyone help with Yorkshire census?

    Missing in 1871:
Edward Abel (born Low Dunsforth 1816)
his wife Ann (born Stillington or Marton 1814)
their married daughter Annie Elizabeth Abel (born Heworth 1847)
their son-in-law James Abel (born Lower Dunsforth 1841)

1861 Edward, Ann & Annie were in Heworth
1866 Annie Elizabeth Abel married her cousin James Abel
1869 (probate index) Edward was a yeoman of Huby
    1871 missing
    1877 Edward died at Huby
1881 James & Annie Elizabeth Abel were at Farlington; widowed Ann Abel was with them

    Thanks for reading this.

              Julie,
Thank you so much for your efforts on my behalf.:smilee:

You are correct, sadly the one you found in Lancashire is not the chap I'm after, although he is part of the same extended ABEL(L) family.

It doesn't help that there are two villages called Huby - the one I'm dealing with is in North Yorks, a hamlet near Sutton on Forest /Stillington /Easingwold. :F

That's interesting about the missing census - however, that seems to be for a different area of Yorkshire.

I'm grateful for your time & trouble - it's not imperative I find them. (Just wanted to tie up a loose end.)

                      Linda,
                      Thankyou for that.
I still can't get them up on Ancestry, even when entering just Abell and Easingwold, but at least I know where they are now.

Many thanks for your time, much appreciated.

                          Thankyou Linda -

That page is missing from Ancestry!! :F

At least it explains why I couldn't find them, even though I'd scoured every image for the village of Huby.
So, they're not mis-transcribed - just not there to begin with, LOL.

I really began to think I'd lost it :smilee:
