Ann CHAPMAN (nee BATES),Jane's aunt & her children went to Ontario,Canada in 1834 to join husband Henry CHAPMAN. They settled in Holland Landing,Ontario.

Jane COOPER,nee GILBERT- her brother John GILBERT married Jane MATCHETT in 1852 in Ontario. John had arrived in Canada by 1849 as in old letters was living near his Aunt Ann & Uncle Henry. John & Jane GILBERT ,nee MATCHETT & family moved to Wisconsin after 1871 but before 1880.

Brother, Michael GILBERT came to Ontario in 1871 (with his brother-inlaw, George OBEE). Michael's wife ,Harriet came later in 1871. They settled in Holland Landing.

Would any other information help locate John & Jane COOPER,nee GILBERT?
      Thanks

Hi Kerri - I don't have access to provide full info for you from the census's...but the Canadian Archives have just updated so might be worth a look in case they did go to Canada.......

The Archives of Ontario holds microfilm copies of indexes to registrations (where they exist) and registrations for the following years:

        Births: 1869-1912
        Marriages: 1780-1927(predominately 1869-1927)
        Deaths: 1869-1937

I believe as well, that the place names you've mentioned also have local historical societies....
