  • Looking for Mary Bell Ling Slee

Mary Bell Ling Slee was born March 1860 in Taunton.

Her birth certificate has mother as Sarah Slee - No father is listed.

When Mary married in 1893 she was recorded as Mary Bell Slee - father William Slee (deceased).

I can not find any census entry for in 1861, 1871 or 1881.

I have looked for a marriage between William Slee & a Sarah for the Taunton area - but no joy.

Have also done a search on Mary & Sarah for the Taunton area for thr 61c without luck.

Anyoen got any thought where they are.

    thanks.

You're welcome Oliver. I think you could have fun with this one.
              Going back to 1841;

              in Staplegrove
              William Slee 40
              Jane Slee 40
              Emily Slee 7
              Elizabeth Slee 5

              then in Dunster

there is a family with James (mariner)& Mary Slee, but with them is

              Elizabeth Slee 39
              Sarah Slee 1

You'll need a few certificates to sort them out.
              Good Luck

There is only one Sarah Slee born in Somerset around 1840 so that would suggest Mary's mother is part of the 2nd family you highlighted - but from the census record for 1841 looks like 2 lots of slee's living together. Lots of fun sorting it all out.
