  • Edward Comyn-Boulogne Sur Mer

My Great Grandfather Edward Comyn(Lawyer/Banker) lived for most of his life with his family in London. I can not find him in the 1871 census but he reappears in 1881. I've discovered that he and his wife Mary Louisa Pullen had two children while living in Boulogne Sur Mer. I'm surmising that his wife had health problems and moved to France for a "cure". Edward managed to father a daughter by another woman in 1876 in England. I am wondering if my Great Grandfather had business in France or was it common to move there for health reasons. This side of our family is quite interesting, Edward having a mistress(whom he later married) and an illegitimate child, two of his sons were shipped off to Canada by the church society and Edward very much did not approve of his Daughter(Mary Violet Comyn) marrying my Grandfather Arthur Sydney Ponting. Would love to hear from anyone else researching Ponting or Comyn.
