George Frederick Hiscott, birth registered March Q 1870, Islington 1b 340.

I think I found (George) Frederick and Eliza Hisscott in 1871, no sign of Joseph yet -

    Class: RG10; Piece: 303; Folio: 72; Page: 68

I found George F and Elizabeth and family in Islington in 1911, with children Ann C, Edward A, Eliza E, Emily E, Lilian R and Harry GA Hisscott, 10 months. Missing is Ethel who was 4 in 1901. Freebmd is showing a birth for George F Hiscott in Dec Q 1911 with mothers maiden name as Lawrence. But I cant find a marriage.

    Births Sep 1910
    HISCOTT Henry G A Islington 1b 320

    Births Dec 1911
    Hiscott George F Lawrence Islington 1b 631

If you get one of these birth certs, it will give Elizabeths maiden name.

    1901 census - Class: RG13; Piece: 198; Folio: 79; Page: 43.

Eliza Bland, looks like father George died in Leicester before 1841. I found mother Elizabeth, brother William and Eliza, all not born in county still there in 1841. Unfortunately there is no occupation stated for Elizabeth. In 1851 William and Eliza are together with enumerators note "head of household away" on the census sheet.

Can't Eliza and Joseph Hisscott in 1861, even though they married in the first quarter of the year.

great sleuthing Sue - looks like the right one.

I am glad I am not trying to get a passport with that ! (Last year the Australian Passport Office rejected my birth certifcate because my MOTHERS MAIDEN NAME was "different" to that on my marriage certificate - someone had typed Eocles instead of Eccles. Think of the hissy fit they would have if it said ESSCOTT instead of HISSCOTT !!!
