  • Family mystery....

    I have

Fanny LYDALL bpt. 1822 Whitwick, Leicestershire, she marries William FOULDS 1844 in ADLZ dist, Leics.

I have them on the 1851 census with their son William FOULDS b.1846 St. Peters, Derby.

    - Ancestry.co.uk

    Class: HO107; Piece: 2144; Folio: 34; Page: 25; GSU roll: 87775

after that, nothing.. I can't find a death for fanny, or anything on the family after 1851.

anyone fancy having a look please, I would like to get to the bottom of this as its been niggling at me for a while.

    many thanks
    Julie

Hi Julie - I had a family like that who, it turned out, emigrated to Canada a year or so after the census was taken ...

I was also looking at that one that Elaine found Julie. The trouble is that I can't find a suitable death for Fanny and there are a lot of possible deaths for Williams between 1851 and 1861 especially if they had moved. Do you have the birth of young William at all Julie? I was sort of hoping he had a second intitial.
There is a possible marriage for Fanny in 1874 in Derby, but that wouldn't explain her absence in 1861/1871.

          Hi Elaine,

No I hadn't really looked into it, I presumed if I couldnt find a death for Fanny then they'd still be together,

          Leicestershire Lass,

I will check that out also, thanks.. :smilee:
