These two are the best transcription errors I've found so far!!!

Edwardst Mile End New, Offaly, Ireland

It should read King Edward street, Mile end old Town.

Helamley, Villa Shaekney: It should read Helmsley Villa Hackney

Also I cannot believe it but who ever completed this census has put all the addresses down that the children were born at how lucky is that. I suspect that is why they had a problem transcribing them, all of them have been spelt wrong.

I've been chasing a family around South London. Ancestry thinks Lewisham is in Middlesex.

Don't start us on Ancestry's eccentric impressions of UK geography, UJ!

That reminds me of one birthplace I found once that had been transcribed as "St London, Oxfordshire". When I looked at the image, it was of course "Oxford St, London"! Now I know that the transcribers don't always have local knowledge, but really - who hasn't heard of Oxford Steet!
