I have had to good fortune of establishing connections for three famlies I have been working on for more than 20 years.
I received e-mails with all of the information typed out, no gedcom or tree available. With an interest to be most efficient I've looked at a few options to enter the info.
ancestry.com
ifamily for Leopard
PAF
FTM
haven't looked at Legacy yet
For efficiency and ease of data entry my preference is iFamily. The hitch is I'm trying to preserve hispanic surnames in the form of FATHERS surname MOTHERS surname (ie two last names).
with PAF and I believe FTM I am able to do that. I haven't been able to figure out how to do it with iFamily yet.
My questions are:
Any recommendations on whether to preserve the hispanic last names (two) or only go with the father's surname? I'll want to be able to search on ancestry.com, if that makes a difference
Any recommendations on the best program to use to efficiently enter data? I don't want to be doing a lot of clicking and mousing.
Any other suggestions?
Ultimately I'll merge the file I'm creating with my master tree.
Thanks for any help.
