Husband is nagging me to update his laptop to Windows 7 from Vista. Has anyone here done it yet? I'm still running XP on mine and therefore am not very familiar with Vista (thank goodness!). Any info would be much appreciated as OH thinks I am an expert on computers!:F

Shirley,
I have not seen Windows 7 yet but have been told by a friend that it is not as good as Vista. She told me that it no longer has Windows Mail not sure what is in it's place. Other than that she said the changes are cosmetic and so far has found it difficult to run various programmes etc.
Like all these things they are all about 'Buying and Selling'. I think XP was the best programme that they have ever sold. I now have Vista but not from choice, having said that I like using it.
My answer to your question is 'wait and see' the first issue is never the best.Margaret N

I've been running Windows 7 since August (just before it went on sale in the shops). It's a big improvement on Vista. Faster and more stable. Not had it crash once yet. The only problem I have encountered so far is that my microphone doesnt work in skype, but I think that is audio driver related and not Windows' fault.
Windows 7 has Windows Live Mail which is the same as the old Windows Mail in Vista.Dave - Hungry Monkey

While upgrading from vista to win7 will be of great relief ,you have to remember that there are still a few driver issues not as many as vista but you may also have software that won’t run on win7. If you have the money to invest in a software upgrade then win7 ultimate would be a wise investment and it has windows XP mode built in it.
Another word to the wise doen’t go looking on EBay for a cheaper version. There are so many dodgy dealers sending nicely packaged copies of win7 that are nothing more than a fancy coaster for your coffee mug !!!

Hi Babs,
With Sony it depends when you bought the computer and the model.
Only available on purchases after June.
Tried to do mine but have had problems. When DVD starts running it comes up Vista has stopped working.
Will need to email them I think to find out what's wrong.Christine in Portugal
