  • Internet connection for new lap top...

I'm thinking of buying this laptop, after months of thinking about it ( :o )-

    HP Pavillion DV6-2020 M500 3GB 320GB Windows 7 15.4" Laptop - Tesco.Direct

Even though my modem has got WiFi capabilities, I'd rather not use it, so can someone confirm that it's OK to use an ethernet cable connected to the modem please for my internet connection...

It's confusing me as it lists a '1 RJ45 ethernet connector' under output when I would have thought this as input? We have one of these connectors already for our Wii...

    Thanks for your help...

It will have a socket for a plug in Internet connection.

Its the 'Wired Networking Port' I believe.

Well, I ordered it and it's coming tomorrow...

With 6 months interest free credit, I think it's a good deal...

When we bought our HP PC 2 years ago, it didn't come with a Vista back-up disc and we had to create our own on a write only disc... I presume we'll have to do the same with this one?????

When you used to buy a new computer it came with a back-up disc for the operating system... XP etc. But I think people were selling these on on EBay etc, so to stop it they allowed you to save a back-up to disc once only (or maybe twice if you mucked up) so you could reload it in the event of a hard drive failure.

Well it's here and we're doing a system back-up right now.

I connected to the internet using the RJ45 cable connected to the back of my modem.

                          Really impressed so far...
