  • Why are all the records on Ancestry still not there

    Why is it when I know my Gt Gt grandfather was in in the Army with a long service,is it that he is still not listed on the new Ancestry do you think, ?:F

    If you are talking about WW1 unfortunately a lot of the records were lost (burnt).

      |And if his long service meant he stayed in after 1919 his records will be with MoD not Natioanl Archives so Ancestry won't have access to them.

        Oh dear.expect thats what it is then, shame when this happens isnt it,I have been waiting for ages for them to finish.thank you.

          Another possibility - the surviving records on Ancestry are only for "other ranks" - if he was an officer you need to search at the NA - most officers have some sort of record there that you can request a digital copy of - at a cost
