  • Who was Richards wife?

Richard Northover married on the 16th April 1770 in Swyre. However, according to the transcripts of parish records, on the Dorset OPC he married Elizabeth TIDBY. On Rootsweb, The BT Transcripts has her as Elizabeth DARBY. On IGI she is Elizabeth LEDBY and according to 7 trees on Ancestry it is Elizabeth TIBBY. Do I throw a coin, or is there one that is more likely to be right - unfortunately I cannot get down to Dorset to look at the registers myself.

Can you contact the Dorset OPC, explain the situation and see if they can check the original PRs?

Hadn't thought of that - will see if I can find an e-mail for them. Thanks for the suggestion

e-mail winging it's way to her as I type. Hopefully will get a reply. PS I also found Rudge mentioned as a possible surname for Elizabeth. I wonder where that came from!
